Lillian's First Zoo Trip

Because Brandon's parents have Andrew for a few days, I thought it would be fun to take Lillian to the zoo. She has never been, but loves animals. She loves any books or shows with animals. Austin doesn't have a very nice zoo..mainly rescued animals, so I took her up to Waco. They have a nice zoo and I had been there on field trips with kids in the past, so was familiar with the layout.

We began our trip by stopping for lunch at Chick-fil-a. I had to include this because I took a cute picture of Lillian there. She has never eatten inside before, just picked it up and took it home. She was excited to sit in a chair and eat like a big girl. She ate up her chicken and fruit and got a balloon with a cow attached to it from a lady giving them away. ...If we weren't going to the zoo, it would have been a great day just from that!

Lillian played for a long while with her new gift on the drive, but finally fell asleep on the way waking up just as we got into Waco.

Lillian loved the zoo. When we got to the first animals which were the huge Galapogus turtles, she said "Cool!" She was excited to see everything. We circled around the zoo seeing all the animals. She loved the indoor fish exibit and just pointed and pointed at the fish. The only problem there was that there is a little trench by the fish with water flowing through and she fell right in it while pointing, so got good and wet. I think her favorite thing to see was in the night creatures room...the owl! She just kept pointing and saying "who--who!" She was so excited! She also loved the giraffe, but wasn't too sure about the lions. She got a little scared when I pushed a button that plays what the lion's roar sounds like.

Afterwards, we went to the gift shop and got a puzzle and a hat she just had to have, then went to the playground. I think it was actually the highlight of the day. It had a snake you could walk through and place where water shoots up from the ground and she could have played in it all day. I figured it didn't matter since she was already wet from the other incident.

It was a fun trip altogether. I think she was worn out from all the walking and running around. She did sleep about an hour on the way home. I hope I can take both kids next year.
