Lillian's School Easter Party

Lillian won't have school on Friday for Good Friday, so her class celebrated their Easter party today. Andrew and I came to see all the fun. They hunted Easter eggs during their outside playtime, so we missed that. Andrew was very cranky and threw some pretty bad fits in there, so I had to walk him out a few times. I think he thought he should be able to participate fully in the party as well...but he will have his tomorrow. But all-in-all Lillian had a good day at school and enjoyed her Easter celebration with her friends.

Snow Cones!

The kids were out playing in the backyard this evening and I went out to water the flowers when we heard some unfamiliar music playing. It got closer and closer, so we went out front to see what it was. It was a snow cone truck! We have had ice cream trucks come around before, but nothing like this. It was very fancy looking and bright and playing Hawaiian type music. After I ran inside to find some money, we ran after it down the street and got some shaved ice. Yum! The kids were so excited and we sat outside and ate them together. I hope this truck comes around more as the weather gets warmer! Saves me a trip to the snow cone stand!

The Bluebonnets are Back!

I noticed the beautiful bluebonnets this week while driving and thought I better get the kids out to get their pictures in them before I forget. So after picking up the kids from their weekend with their aunts and grandparents in Shiner, we stopped off a country road and took some pictures! Enjoy!

My Birthday Gift

Right about 2 years ago, our living room tv died. I remember like it was yesterday because it wasn't fun at all. I was getting home from the gym with Lillian around 18 months and Andrew, an infant and Andrew was desperate for his bottle and Lillian was screaming wanting to watch tv, so I run in the house to turn on the tv so I can get her settled so I could sit and give Andrew his bottle only to find out it wouldn't come on! It was a nightmare.

Anyway, our next biggest tv was the 32 inch we had in our bedroom. It wasn't even a year old at the time and we got it through points from a credit card. So, down it went to the living room and it has been there since. It is a great tv, but still a little smaller than we wanted for the living room and I really missed having it in our bedroom. (We moved a 20 inch to the bedroom and it was hard to see the menu from our bed.)

So I decided for my birthday this year, since I saved a couple of Target giftcards I got for Christmas, I would ask others to give me more Target cards so I could combine them to get us a new tv. Of course it didn't cover it all, but most of it.

I got a Philips 42 inch LCD tv and it looks great. We just need to get the HDMI cord now to get our HD going. I especially love the new flat panel tvs because our old one stuck so far out from the wall and now with this tv, I could scoot the tv stand all the way back to the wall and we gain more walking room and floor space in the living room now. The size turned out perfect too. It goes from the edge of our shelfing units to the other edge, so it doesn't cover them up.

Thanks everyone for my big birthday gift! We'll really enjoy it!

Happy Birthday to Me!

I had a great 29th birthday yesterday. I got in a good workout, then went shopping and got a few clothes including size 8 jeans...never worn that size in my life! I was so happy when they fit! Then Lillian and I ate out at the new Freebirds in Round Rock. Yummy! Then in the evening we all went out to eat at the Cheesecake Factory. The food was awesome as usual and the cake was even better. The kids were so excited to sing happy birthday to me. Even after we sang and were eating dessert, Andrew was swaying and singing, "Happy birthday, momma, birthday to you." over and over again. It was so cute! I still need to go buy my new tv I'm getting for my birthday. I'll probably go this evening or tomorrow. We'll see. Anyway, it was a great birthday!

Fun on a Cold Day

After all the nice warm weather we've been having for a while, a cold spell came back through last night and today it was cold and rainy. It is also the weekend that Brandon is working, so we had to think of some place indoors we could get out of the house and go play this afternoon, so we went to Jungle Java. My kids love this place! In case you don't know what it is, it is an indoor playscape and room for parents to sit and visit and have coffee and/or food. So I had coffee and watched the kids run around. That place is a zoo on the weekend! I don't know if we'll go on the weekend again for a while unless we have a reason. Too many people! But still the kids had fun. Lillian didn't want to leave. The website is: http://www.junglejavaplay.com/ if you want to check it out.

One Man's Trash is Another Man's Treasure

I was walking to get the mail today...it is down the street at a group box, when I noticed something piled in a bunch of brush in front of a house for the garbage crew to pick up tomorrow. It looked very familiar and I realized what it was! It was a Little Tike's activity gym. My sisters and I had one growing up and it was our favorite thing outside to play on. We climbed, made obstacle courses and used it as a pretend house.

I went up to the people's door and asked if there was anything wrong with it and the kids answering the door just said they never used it anymore...they were older. It has a few minor cracks and is a little faded, but still good. It is only missing the slide. I emailed Little Tike's today to see if there was anyway to buy a replacement slide and am waiting to hear back, but the kids were so excited to have something else to climb on and I figure if it doesn't work out, we can just throw it away ourselves, but thought I'd at least see if the kids were interested since it was free and because I remember it so fondly from my childhood. Above is a picture of my sisters and me and some friends climbing on ours when we were little. Below is the one I got today and the kids playing on it.

Duncan is 5!

Our very little talked about dog...since we have had kids, had a birthday today. He turned 5! Hard to believe! It seems like yesterday I met the lady that sold him to me halfway between Comfort, TX where he came from and Austin at a gas station. He was so little and was shaking with fear of where he was going. He has come to be a pain in the butt a lot of times, but we still love him and the kids adore him. This evening we went to Petsmart and picked him out a birthday present...Lillian picked out a toy donut and ball. We got home and sang him Happy Birthday. Here are a couple of pictures.

At the Park

We went to play at the park this afternoon. The kids enjoyed it. Here are a couple of short videos...Lillian singing the Itsy Bitsy Spider and then the kids playing a little bit.

Andrew's First Day of Preschool

Andrew started preschool this morning. He will go Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9 to 1. He has been wanting to go for quite a while. He gets mad when I drop off Lillian and talks about preschool everytime we drive by there.
He was all excited this morning and had his backpack ready, but when I took him in without Lillian, he wasn't so sure about it. He did cry when I left, but I think he probably had a blast. Our neighbor, Tyler, is also in his class, so they will have fun together! Lillian, I think is a little confused about what to do without Andrew. She keeps asking when we will go get him! ha ha..it is fun for both of us though. Some girl time together and I can get some things done around here that are more difficult to do with Andrew.

Here is my little schooler:
**Update***He had a good time! Mrs. Paula said he did great. He didn't like moving to other rooms to do other things besides being in their classroom, but I'm sure he'll adjust to that. He was definitely happy to see me though! He came running and hugged on to me. He also passed out in the car on the way home and I carried him up to bed without him waking up! He must have worn himself out today.
