Momma has Friends Too!

So as a mom, your world pretty much revolves around your kids and their friends and activities, so it is always nice to have a reminder that you are a person with friends yourself!

I was excited this past weekend to have one of my best buddies, Kristi, in to visit. She has been living in New York City for the past couple of years, so I haven't seen her since I was pregnant with Andrew when she dropped by my Mom's house on Christmas over a year ago. She and her husband completed their business up there and just moved back to Houston. It will be so great to get together more often now.

This was Kristi's first visit to my house since I've had the kids. Needless to say, it is a different experience. From our dinner the first evening at Chic-Fil-A to my naked-bottomed potty training toddler, it wasn't exactly a big to-do weekend. We did have fun though and the kids really took to her. She even got practice running with my double jogging stroller! We also got the invitations ready for our h.s. reunion this fall and had a dinner out with my friend, Irene, for a girls outing without the kids.

I had fun! I hope we get to do this again more often!

She's Finally Ready!

We had a little celebration at my house this evening. Lillian peed in the potty for the first time!!! Before, she wouldn't even sit on it for a minute, but today I've had her sit on it a lot and after all afternoon and nothing, we ate dinner and then she said, "Potty." And ran to the playroom where her little potty was and sat on it and peed! I was jumping up and down and cheering! It is so funny how you'd never thought you'd be so excited about pee! She was happy too and we went straight afterwards to Walmart and picked out some pretty Dora and Princess panties. By no means is she anywhere near trained, but I'm so happy that she is finally showing interest, so we are on our way to only diapers for Andrew! What a relief! We also bought some celebration cupcakes at Walmart. Yay for my big girl!

Father's Day

We packed up and headed to Shiner for Father's Day. We met the Koenning's at Mr. Taco in Gonzales. We had a nice meal and then headed to their house in Shiner. Aunt Sherlene had bought the kids a really fun kiddie pool, so the highlight of the day was splashing around in it. I kind of wish I could have gone in too with the 103 degree heat!

I think Brandon had a good Father's Day overall. He had forgotten it was Father's Day until Lillian brought him his card yesterday morning! I'm very thankful for such a great daddy in my kid's lives and I know they are too. Their faces light up when he comes home from work and they just love playing and spending time with their daddy.

I'm a Grandma!

Our dog Duncan is going to have his first father's day tomorrow. My sister's dog, Cocoa, gave birth last night to 8 puppies! Anyone that is interested in a registered Cocker Spaniel puppy, let me know. Go to my blog list on the left side of my page to the blog called: It's A Wonderful Life...Katy's blog, to see pictures of my new grandpuppies!

Beach Kids

Our family, along with my mom, my sister Katy, and her husband, Clay all went to South Padre Island for the past week. We had been looking forward to this for months! It was Andrew's first beach trip and Lillian's 2nd. She doesn't remember her first since she was only 8 months old last time anyway. The kids loved it! They ran in and out of the water, played in the sand for hours and got a lovely summer tan! Also, the kids loved spending time with the family. Katy even brainwashed Lillian to saying she is her favorite aunt...I'm sure Tory will be fighting back next time we see her.

On the way home, we passed a huge souvenior shop with these gianat dinasaurs and such to take pictures with, so we had to stop for Lillian to see them!

Kids and Tory at the Park

We went to Old Settler's Park this afternoon for the kids to play and ended up walking around the trail a little. The kids liked walking on the bridge. Here are some pictures:
