A Nature Outing

We have been staying in quite a bit due to the summer heat and I get tired of taking them swimming on my own with Marjorie now crawling all over the place and she won't sit in a float, so it makes it a tough outing alone.  The kids are out of school for the month too, so I think they are getting tired of just me and going to the gym.  They miss getting out and doing things.  So this week I decided no matter the heat, we would head out to the park.  So One day we hit up the All Abilities park and were the only ones there!  Then yesterday I remembered Memorial Park and how it had quite a bit of shade, so we headed there.

I love how this park feels like you are out in the country in nature when you are actually under the busiest highway...interstate 35.  Because we haven't had rain in quite a while now, the water wasn't very high and when we walked up on a boy and his mom with a net catching minnows and tadpoles, I told the kids it was okay if they walked around in the water too.  They had a blast!  They looked all around for tadpoles and fish and waded through from rock to rock.  I think Andrew would have stayed there all day!  But that part was in the sun of course and poor Marjorie was getting red in the face from the heat, so I made them come back to the other side and the playground after about 20 minutes or so.

It was fun getting out and doing something different though!  I need to think of more places like this to get out and see these last few weeks of summer before they head back to school.

Tory and Drew Were Here

My sister, Tory moved to Arizona back in February and we haven't seen her since!  So we were all very excited for her to fly in to visit and for Marjorie's birthday!  We got to meet her boyfriend, Drew and we broke him in to the Pearman craziness.  The trip flew by, but we enjoyed all the time we got to spend with them.  We tried to take Drew to some "Austin" places to show him around.  Hopefully we didn't scare him too bad and they will come back to visit again!  I know the kids miss their Tory!

Poor Drew...we got him this shirt! ha ha

First Day of Preschool 2011

The kids were so excited to start back to preschool this morning! We went to see their new classrooms and meet the teachers last Wednesday evening and ever since then, they have been asking when they would be going back! They love Harmony Hill Preschool and missed it during the August break. Andrew has Mrs. Karen. She was Lillian's teacher over the summer and she really enjoyed her. I think he is going to do great. And Lillian is in pre-K! I can't believe this is her last year until she starts Kindergarten! Where does time go?! I know she is very excited about this school year and learning so many more things! Here are the kids this morning before we left for school.

Let's Go Fly a Kite

Brandon was off work on Friday since he was working all weekend and with it being such a nice windy day, we decided to take our kite out to the park and try to fly it. It was perfect weather and the kids had so much fun. Each took a turn holding it and then Brandon decided to see how high he could get it up. Here are some pics and a video.

Lillian and I took a break while Brandon and Andrew had to run way off to get the kite when it fell down.

New Friends!

I am a member of a few "Mom" websites and began chatting back and forth with a girl named Jamie back in January on Cafemom.com. She found me on there because she and her family were looking to move to this area from California, so she wanted to find out more about it. We began emailing back and forth and came to be great internet friends. Eventually we moved on to facebook since we both were on their more often. In February, her husband and dad came to town to see it and look into living arrangements and they stopped by to visit with me. I could already tell they were loving it and were going to move here.

This past weekend, they moved and so we have some new friends here in town! It was awesome meeting them at the park today. Jamie has two daughters, Ava who is 2 and a half, and Gracie who is 5 months. They are both dolls! Lillian and Ava took to being buddies right away and played together almost the whole time. (I hope she doesn't get too confused by the name since she has 2 other buddies named Ava...one from daycare when she went to Taylor and my friend Erin's daughter!) At least they are probably friends we won't see at the same time! Ava was born in August after Lillian, so they are the same school age.

I'm so excited to have a new girlfriend to visit with! I thought it might be awkward with us only have talked online so far, but it was like we'd known each other for years! Here is to many more playdates and fun ahead!

More Snow Fun

After naptime, it had snowed a lot more, so I took the kids out to see it on the golf course. Then Brandon got home from work and joined us. Here are some more pictures!

Snow in Round Rock!?

I didn't even know until the middle of the day yesterday we had a chance of snow and low and behold, we did get some! I was in the kitchen this morning when Lillian ran in and said, "Mommy, it is snowing!" Sure enough, we looked out the window and it was! Funny how she's never seen snow in her life and she was the one that showed me! The kids are loving it. It is still coming down and Lillian is set on making a snowman, so hopefully after naptime when Brandon gets home, they can do that. Here are some pictures and a video...the video is funny...the kids decided to slide down the slide in the backyard in the snow.

Yogurt R Rock

Have ya'll tried Yogurt R Rock next to Snip-its in Round Rock at La Frontera? If not, you need to!

The kids and I just went after dinner just to get out of the house and it was so neat and cheap! They have 30 different flavors of frozen yogurt, most of them are nonfat the lady said. It is self-serve, so you just get your cup and fill it to how much you want and then mix and match any toppings you want on it. They have fresh fruit, nuts, and candy. Then they weigh it for how much you pay...39 cents per ounce no matter what you get. I paid $5.50 total for the kids and I. I'll definitely be back. It is a very cheap treat! The kids loved it!

Ben and Jerry's used to be where this place is and I'm not saying this tasted better....good ole fattening ice cream is definitely more delicious, but for a very cheap and nonfat treat, this place is awesome!

70 Degees and Sunny

You have to take advantage of the beautiful weather while it lasts! We have had a really cold and rainy winter so far here, which isn't usual for Texas. We've been stuck inside way too much and the kids love getting out to the park. Today it was 70 degrees and gorgeous out, so we took advantage!

The kids love this playground at Old Settler's Park because it is a short walk to a little bridge on the running trail. They love to go throw rocks over into the water. Our laugh for the afternoon was when a male runner went by us without a shirt and Lillian looks and points and says really loudly, "He's NAKED!" ha ha! He smiled at us as he went by....oh the things kids say!
